The field of Health Studies encompasses an important academic range of disciplines which focus on the daily life experiences of individuals across the life-course spectrum, including diverse communities locally, nationally and globally.


As a subject discipline, Health Studies covers a broad area which includes a wide range of disciplines reflecting the study of human health, diseases, physical health, mental health and overall wellbeing, also extending to social, cultural and environmental dimensions.


The study of a health subject discipline through a diverse range of innovative methodological approaches, opens doors to a wide range of employment opportunities for graduates, in an ever-evolving landscape where continuous learning and development is essential.

This Health Studies Benchmark Statement has been developed at a time when the various disciplines coalesce to find solutions to complex health problems locally and globally, whilst providing training for the next generation of leaders within and across the various fields in Health.

 

Working collaboratively, with a diverse membership of expert academics and health professionals, drawn from across the four UK regions, this Health Subject Benchmark Statement is rich and focused on contemporary developments relevant for curriculum development in the various health fields, as well as cross-cutting themes which include accessibility, employability, technology sustainability, equality, diversity and inclusion.
