The impact of block delivery

Date: April 12 - 2024

QAA is today hosting a webinar to introduce a new online resource generated by a Collaborative Enhancement Project which has evaluated the impact of block delivery of taught provision.

The QAA-funded project has been led by a team at De Montfort University in partnership with colleagues from Manchester Metropolitan University, the University of Gloucestershire, the University of Plymouth, the University of Suffolk and Victoria University in Australia.

The project has collated experiences, approaches and methods from across the sector to evaluate the impact of block teaching, and to provide insights, guidance and support on block delivery.

Last September, the project staged a conference in Leicester which attracted more than 100 delegates from 40 different providers.

Materials from the conference, along with a series of five case studies, five podcasts and an extensive library of further reading, as well video testimonials from staff at Victoria University, are available now on the project website.

De Montfort University’s Professor Leanne de Main said: 'Working collaboratively on this exciting project has been fantastic. Learning from our collective experiences and sharing our findings across the sector has sparked significant interest, particularly at a time when innovation and creativity in higher education is paramount. We greatly appreciate the sponsorship and support from QAA and would encourage educators across the sector to engage in future Collaborative Enhancement Projects.'

'It's been great to have had the opportunity to support colleagues on this project', added QAA's Daniel Chevalier. 'The findings of this evaluation are really fascinating and should certainly provide much food for thought across the sector.'

You can find out about all QAA-funded Collaborative Enhancement Projects on our website. We have supported 66 projects directly involving over 146 providers and partners since launching the scheme in 2020. The projects are funded from QAA Membership and provide a wealth of insights and practical resources for our members and the UK sector more widely.
