Date: May 23 - 2024

QAA was pleased to host Her Excellency Dr Hilola Umarova, Minister of Preschool and School Education of Uzbekistan and Chair of the Supervisory Board of New Uzbekistan University (NewUU), Bakhitiyor Yuldashev, Vice-Rector for Innovation and Research at NewUU and Bahodir Ahmedov, Vice-Rector for Academic Affairs, in London for the signing of an agreement to commence the International Quality Review (IQR) process and renew NewUU’s status as a QAA International Associate Member.

Established in 2021, New Uzbekistan University is the first public autonomous university in Uzbekistan and the first in the country to seek international institutional accreditation by QAA.

The IQR process will benchmark NewUU's quality assurance practices against the European Standards and Guidelines (ESG), enabling the University to demonstrate effective quality assurance measured against international benchmarks.

As a QAA International Associate Member, NewUU will gain access to a variety of resources, staff development opportunities and events aimed at sharing best practices and enhancing educational quality.

QAA commends NewUU's dedication to providing high-quality education and looks forward to collaborating closely with the University throughout the IQR process.

QAA Chief Executive Vicki Stott said: ‘Congratulations to NewUU on signing the IQR agreement and renewing International Associate Membership. We are excited to support NewUU on this journey and to help them achieve their goal of delivering the highest quality education to students in Uzbekistan.

Her Excellency Dr Hilola Umarova added: ‘We believe that the collaboration with QAA will be important in achieving high educational standards. This initiative promises to bring valuable insights for NewUU and sets an example that we hope to expand across other institutions in Uzbekistan and the wider region. By promoting a culture of quality and continuous improvement, we are confident that our educational institutions will develop and significantly contribute to the intellectual and economic growth of our country.
