QAA announces writing groups for UK Quality Code Advice and Guidance Tranche 2

Date: June 30 - 2025

QAA has confirmed the membership of the writing groups for the next six sets of Advice and Guidance to underpin the 2024 UK Quality Code. The 2024 edition of the UK Quality Code, published in June, will be accompanied by Advice and Guidance aligning to each of the Quality Code’s 12 Sector-Agreed Principles. The Advice and Guidance will help providers to unpack and engage with each of the Quality Code’s Principles and Key Practices.

Expert readers and writers have been appointed to develop the second tranche of Advice and Guidance from June 2025 to June 2026 covering:

  • Principle 4: Using data to inform and evaluate quality
  • Principle 5: Monitoring, evaluating and enhancing provision
  • Principle 7: Designing, developing, approving & modifying programmes
  • Principle 10: Supporting students to achieve their potential
  • Principle 11: Teaching, learning and assessment
  • Principle 12: Operating concerns, complaints and appeals processes.

A full list of the writing groups and their membership is available on our website.

Dr Andy Smith, QAA’s Quality & Standards Manager, said:

‘We’re enormously grateful to everyone who put their names forward to participate in this work. It’s so inspiring to see the enthusiasm and wealth of experience of colleagues across the sector who volunteer their time and experience to take part. We very much look forward to working with our new writing and reading group members in the months ahead. Their considerable contribution is essential in ensuring that the UK Quality Code and the underpinning Advice and Guidance remains a valuable, sector-led resource for higher education providers across the UK and beyond.’
