We work with QAA Members in Northern Ireland across activities specific to Northern Ireland, working collaboratively to support our shared commitment to enhancing and enriching the learning experience of students. You can find out more about Membership in Northern Ireland in the Membership section.

Working with our partners we seek to champion the interests of higher education with government, funders and partners, and promote co-operation and sharing good practice between providers.

We actively listen to membership to ensure members get best value and have opportunities to learn from the experience of the wider QAA network and participate in UK-wide events and opportunities.

We will continue to support the active participation of students as partners in our work and in quality enhancement in Northern Ireland, seeking further ways to deepen their involvement and strengthen the student voice.

QAA can provide commissioned quality reviews for individual institutions. Commissioned reviews are enhancement and peer-led, and responsive to the context of each institution, as well as the policy context in Northern Ireland.

QAA Northern Ireland Conference 2021

In October 2021 we ran the QAA Northern Ireland Conference ‘Contemporary Higher Education Practice’ in partnership with colleagues at South West College. The conference had nearly 300 registrations and included speakers from across Northern Ireland and wider afield, including member institutions in England, Scotland and Wales.

Within this we presented the findings of our two recent research projects undertaken in partnership with our members:

  • developing the membership offer in Northern Ireland
  • understanding current approaches to quality enhancement to inform a potential new approach to quality in Northern Ireland.
