About this subject
A degree in Policing aims to provide students with knowledge and understanding of the profession, along with the regulatory, legal and criminal justice system within which policing operates. Initial entry programmes for new police constables licensed by the College of Policing also develop the skills and behaviours required in order to become competent professionals in policing across England and Wales.
Policing as a subject is a key component in recognising and standardising the profession of policing, which in turn assists the services core roles of protecting life and property, preserving order, preventing the commission of offences and bringing offenders to justice.

The Advisory Group members have used their broad range of experience and expertise from higher education and policing across England, Northern Ireland, Scotland and Wales, to develop a Statement which is inclusive, innovative and student-centred, meeting the needs of the profession and a range of employers.
