QAA shines a spotlight on quality and standards in transnational education

Date: August 16 - 2021

QAA is shining a spotlight on quality and standards in transnational education (TNE) through a new International Insights publication that highlights the key themes associated with this topic.

The short publication offers an overview of the key themes that have emerged through discussion with QAA Members about transnational education and collaborative provision over the last year, and offers a taster into the topics that we will explore over the next year as part of QAA’s Membership programme.

The key topics that QAA will cover through its ‘Global Engagement and TNE’ membership theme include:

  • Due diligence
  • Approval, monitoring and review processes
  • Academic standards and assessment
  • TNE student experience.

QAA will be running a series of events to explore these topics in further detail, as part of our International Insights programme. This will include a series of webinars on Enhancing Quality and Managing Risk in TNE, an Introduction to International Partnerships training, and the establishment of an International Partnerships Policy and Practice Network.

The Spotlight on Quality and Standards in Transnational Education is available to QAA International Insights Members on the QAA Membership Resources Site.

QAA Members can sign up to use the Membership Resources site by completing our simple registration form. It is available for all staff and students from QAA Member institutions.

If you would like to find out more about becoming a QAA Member or upgrading your Membership package, please get in touch with us by emailing membership@qaa.ac.uk

UK higher education providers who are degree awarding bodies and who offer TNE provision can also sign up to QAA’s Quality Evaluation and Enhancement of UK Transnational Higher Education (QE-TNE) Scheme by 31 August 2021. QE-TNE is a voluntary standalone programme, which does not depend on participants being members of QAA. However, if you are a QAA Member and also sign up to the QE-TNE Scheme, you will be able to access additional member exclusive outputs. The initial QE-TNE programme operates between 2021-22 and 2025-26. For more information on the QE-TNE programme, and to register, visit the QE-TNE programme webpages.
