New Uzbekistan University receives QAA accreditation

New Uzbekistan University in Tashkent has successfully completed its International Quality Accreditation (IQA) and has been awarded accreditation by the Quality Assurance Agency for Higher Education.

IQA provides institutions with an independent peer review which tests whether an institution meets the ten standards of the Standards and Guidelines for Quality Assurance in the European Higher Education Area (ESG).

The review visit was conducted on 2-4 June 2026 by a team of three independent reviewers (including a student reviewer) appointed by QAA. The team concluded that New Uzbekistan University meets the standards for International Quality Accreditation and may therefore be granted QAA accreditation. 

Established by presidential decree in 2021, New Uzbekistan University's stated mission is to become a national leader in both research and teaching, as part of Uzbekistan’s broader presidential education system, and to serve as flagship for other universities in the country.

The IQA report identifies two areas of good practice, and makes nine recommendations for enhancement.

The report notes the following features of good practice:

• The close working relationship between the University and external partners that enables knowledge exchange.
• The University's transparent approach to publishing admissions data that provides detailed information for prospective and current students as well as for graduates, other stakeholders and the public. 

The report recommends that New Uzbekistan University:

• continues to develop clear, accessible and detailed policies, procedures and structures, along with increased capacity to underpin the core Quality Assurance Framework, in order to embed further a culture of quality as the institution develops. 
• considers a strategy to deliver formal and scheduled external program reviews using learning data and benchmarks, and comprehensive feedback from all stakeholders, at all stages of the process.
• strengthens its assessment process to ensure that students are always provided with detailed, constructive and effective feedback to support their learning, encourage reflection and promote continuous improvement in line with the expectations of the University's Assessment Policy.
• develops and implements a plan for the systematic use of data on assessment outcomes and performance-based improvement cycles to more effectively deliver a student-centred approach to learning, teaching and assessment.
• makes explicit conditions under which an admissions appeal can be launched in the Admissions Regulations.
• further develops its use of data in the proactive monitoring of student progression. 
• develops formal policies and procedures to ensure continuous professional development and improve pedagogical skills.
• develops a formal process for the ongoing checking of public information to ensure clarity, accuracy, objectivity, and accessibility. 
• further enhances its approach for the periodic review of programmes to ensure that it includes additional local external stakeholders.
