QAA collaboration honoured at Malaysian awards

Date: August 12 - 2025

QAA's Chief Executive Vicki Stott has been honoured to receive a special award at the Malaysian Qualifications Agency's annual awards ceremony in Kuala Lumpur on Monday 11 August.

Professor Dr Mohammad Shatar bin Sabran, Chief Executive Officer of the Malaysian Qualifications Agency, extended this award in recognition of the "long-standing collaboration and mutual support" that exists between the two agencies.

Vicki was presented with the International Quality Assurance Icon Award by Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi, Deputy Prime Minister of Malaysia.

The MQA was created in 2007 by the Malaysian Qualifications Agency Act and is responsible for monitoring and overseeing the quality assurance practices and accreditation of higher education in Malaysia.

In May this year, QAA and the MQA signed a memorandum of understanding which renews and builds upon a previous agreement signed in 2019, and sets out collaboration in key areas including micro-credentials, academic integrity, online learning and transnational education.

"I'm so grateful that our collaboration with our friends and colleagues at the MQA has been recognised in this wonderful way, and we very much look forward to many more years of fruitful partnership," Vicki said. "The relationship between our agencies is particularly valuable given the long history of cooperation in higher education and the more recent growth of transnational partnerships between our two nations."
