The Recognition Scheme sets out QAA's requirements for the governance and management of AVAs, and the outcomes expected of AVAs in respect of the quality of Access to HE courses and the standards achieved by students who are awarded the Access to HE Diploma.

These requirements are presented as a set of standard terms and specific conditions for the award of an AVA licence. QAA uses the Licensing Conditions and their related outcomes in making decisions about the award and continuation of AVA licences.
