Call for Proposals – Now Open for QAA Scotland’s 5th International Enhancement Conference

QAA Scotland is delighted to announce that our call for proposals for our 5th International Enhancement Conference is now open!
The focus of Resilient Learning Communities, the current Enhancement Theme, is just as relevant today as it was three years ago. How do we, as a Scottish higher education sector, support a diversifying student population with changing needs and attitudes towards what might be classed as more 'traditional' styles of learning and teaching? What might these changes mean for our staff and our infrastructure? How do we ensure that our work meaningfully improves the student experience in a changing external landscape?
The ethos of support and development articulated by these questions has been a central feature of the Enhancement Themes from its inception in 2003. Over the past twenty years, the Enhancement Themes has been a vehicle through which the Scottish higher education sector has sought to tackle issues that significantly impact the learner experience, both within individual institutions and across the sector. The continuous improvement of the learner journey is at the heart of Scotland’s enhancement-led approach to quality as set out in our distinctive Quality Enhancement Framework.
QAA Scotland’s 5th International Enhancement Conference 'Shaping the Student Experience Together: 20 Years of Enhancement' offers an opportunity to:
- critically reflect on the impact of Scotland’s enhancement-led approach to quality nationally and internationally,
- engage with innovative practice developed through Resilient Learning Communities and the Enhancement Themes more broadly, and
- explore the role of an enhancement-led approach to quality in a tertiary education landscape.
QAA Scotland invites proposals that engage with one of the following broad themes:
- Resilient Learning Communities;
- Curriculum development;
- Student engagement;
- Student transitions; and
- Evaluation.
'Shaping the Student Experience Together: 20 Years of Enhancement' will be a hybrid event, the in-person component will be held on 14-15 June 2023 at Glasgow Caledonian University in the heart of Glasgow city centre, Scotland. While delegates will be able to engage with aspects of the event programme in an online platform, contributors will be expected to attend the conference in-person.
We are really looking forward to welcoming contributors and delegates to join us in Glasgow where you will have the opportunity to share practice, actively engage in collaborative conversations and lively debates, and network with national and international colleagues. We would particularly encourage proposals from:
- projects that have been student-led or have students as part of the project team;
- projects that have been undertaken through collaborative working between universities and colleges; and
- projects or work that have an international element.
Potential contributors are encouraged to submit their proposal by 18 November 2022 at 5pm GMT. Proposals can be submitted on our abstract submission site by completing all mandatory fields.
Please direct any questions about the call for proposals to ARCadmin@qaa.ac.uk.
