QAA prepares for European review

Date: January 23 - 2018

Next month, QAA will undergo its third review by the European Association for Quality Assurance in Higher Education (ENQA).

As part of this review, we have had to prepare a self-assessment report for the ENQA review team.

Within the report, we have highlighted two particular strengths of our agency: student engagement and partnership working, with specific examples of both given throughout the report.

The opportunity for self-evaluation, coming as it does during a period of significant change for QAA and for quality assurance in the UK higher education sector, has provided a valuable learning opportunity for the QAA.

QAA is a founding member of ENQA, the membership organisation for higher education quality assurance agencies in Europe. Member agencies are required to undergo a review once every five years, with QAA last reviewed in 2013.

The review team will check QAA's activity against the Standards and Guidelines for Quality Assurance in the European Higher Education Area (ESG) which are owned by the E4 group (the European University Association, the European Students' Union, the European Association for Institutes of Higher Education and ENQA). They will meet with staff from QAA and representatives of the higher education sector. Their full report following the review visit is expected to be published in the autumn.

Visit the ENQA website for further information and to view the 2013 report on QAA. We will report on this year’s review when the results are available.
