QAA launches new Quality Compass series
|Date:||December 17 - 2020|
QAA has launched a new series, Quality Compass, a resource designed to help members navigate and respond to future challenges and opportunities. Quality Compass enables members to explore ideas and plan for the future in the rapidly changing landscape of higher education.
The focus of the first edition is navigating assessment in a digital environment. In particular, it explores the concept of 'authentic assessment', questioning how members can approach assessment from a principles-based position, what the ethics of remote assessment and online proctoring signify, and how to put learner-centric models at the core of assessment strategies.
Future editions will explore topics including modular qualifications, flexible delivery, curriculum design, and student engagement and success.
Dr Ailsa Crum, QAA’s Director of Membership, Quality Enhancement & Services said: ‘We intend Quality Compass to open discussions and explore ideas in a constructively provocative manner. Our members may not agree with all they read here and we’re comfortable with that - this isn’t about guidance from QAA but an opportunity to consider possible future directions for higher education and the implications for quality and standards, enabling our member community to benefit from the links we have with governments and agencies inside the UK and internationally.’
Quality Compass: Navigating Assessment in a Digital Environment is published exclusively for QAA Members on our Membership Resources Site. Those from QAA Member institutions can sign-up to access this site using our registration form.
QAA offers Quality Compass as a conversation starter, linked to our wider membership offer. We are keen to hear from you - do you have contributions for future editions, or would you like to respond to any of the ideas raised in the first edition? Please contact us at email@example.com.
