Gateway Quality Review: Wales – method handbook now published
|Date:||August 2 - 2018|
On behalf of the Higher Education Funding Council for Wales (HEFCW), QAA has published the handbook for Gateway Quality Review: Wales (GQRW).
GQRW is a key element of the Quality Assessment Framework for Wales.
The method is designed to:
- ensure that the student interest is protected
- ensure that the reputation of the UK higher education system is protected, including the protection of academic standards
- identify areas for development and/or specified improvements that will help a provider to meet the baseline regulatory requirements.
Through the review, QAA will offer independent, external assurance and provide expert judgement to HEFCW on how providers demonstrate their compliance with the baseline regulatory requirements for higher education in Wales. The review makes use of expert advice from peer review teams, including student reviewers.
Providers will be able to use successful outcomes of GQRW as evidence of the quality assurance of their higher education provision against the baseline regulatory requirements when they apply for specific designation or a Fee and Access Plan.
