QAA face-to-face events to be postponed

Date: March 16 - 2020

We are aware that colleagues across UK higher education are working extremely hard to make arrangements to secure the welfare of students and staff in the current and developing challenges posed by COVID-19. QAA's Board met on 11 March and urged us to do all we could to support the sector as you navigate the complexities that the public health crisis produces.

In that spirit, we are committed to remaining available to our members throughout the UK in as many respects as we can. We have instigated flexible and remote working practices which mean that the vast majority of QAA's support and expertise will remain accessible to you with as little disruption as possible.

In the near future, QAA will share advice and guidance intended to support our University and College members in considering how they might adapt to ensure delivery of learning, teaching and assessment in ways that both support students and secure academic standards. You can read more about this in today's news item: COVID-19: Support for higher education providers.

In the midst of all this, and in light of the Government’s announcement this afternoon that everyone in the UK should now avoid 'non-essential' travel and contact with others to fight Coronavirus, QAA has with immediate effect postponed all its planned face-to-face events until later in the year. This includes:

  • Quality in Practice - Membership Training - tomorrow (17 March)
  • QAA Annual Conference (22-23 April)
  • PSRB Forum (22 April)
  • Access to HE Conference (23 April)
  • International Enhancement Conference (3-4 June, see QAA Scotland website)

If you have registered for any of these events, you will receive specific information during the next week about our plans for more online events in the coming weeks.

In the meantime, please feel free to access our Quality Clinics, online training and webinars, and membership resources. Our membership team are ready to support you in creating solutions that protect the delivery of high quality outcomes to your students.

We apologise for the inconvenience this decision may cause those of you who have already booked your places. We will be in touch with you and with our speakers very shortly.

If you have any questions do let us know at events@qaa.ac.uk
