Introduction to Quality

Date: January 15 to January 22 - 2021
Location: Online

 Exclusively for QAA Members

This Introduction to Quality training course will take place from Friday 15 January to Friday 22 January.

This course is exclusively for QAA Members and has been designed for new quality team members, academics and other staff who need to understand the role of quality in higher education.

From Friday 15 January, participants will be able to access online activities and pre-recorded presentations prior to attending two 'live' online sessions* scheduled for:

  • Wednesday 20 January (10:00-12:00)
  • Friday 22 January (10:00-11:00)

The course will provide an overview of key elements of quality assurance in the UK and encourage participants to share research and ideas and identify useful sources of information. Areas covered include:

  • the UK quality assurance regulatory landscape (including the role of QAA and the UK Quality Code for Higher Education).
  • the role of a quality team and challenges for the delivery of quality assurance and enhancement.

The first live session will involve a discussion activity linked to the UK Quality Code and there are specific suggestions about how to prepare for this following the second pre-recorded session. However, if you would like more time to prepare, you will find it helpful to (re)read the UK Quality Code and look at some of the Advice and Guidance.

Places are limited to one person per member institution and are allocated on a first come, first served basis. Places must be booked by Monday 11 January.

To participate, you must be available for the full duration of the two live sessions and be able to commit 3-5 hours to complete preparatory work which includes pre-recorded presentations, reading and tasks. Each task will take up to 30 minutes to complete.

The initial course materials will be made available on the training site from Friday 15 January and the site will remain open until Friday 29 January to allow continued access to the resources.

Further information about this event, including how to register, is available on our booking site.
