The Institute had recently been granted foundation degree
awarding powers (FDAP) by the Privy Council following detailed scrutiny of the
Institute's application by QAA which included consideration of the setting and
maintenance of academic standards and the quality of students' learning
opportunities. Consequently, this review focused exclusively on the two
judgement areas of information about higher education provision and the
enhancement of students' learning opportunities at the Institute.
