Judgements about standards and quality

The maintenance of the threshold academic standards of awards offered on behalf of degree-awarding bodies and/or other awarding organisations meets UK expectations.

The quality of student learning opportunities at the provider meets UK expectations.

The quality of the information produced by the provider about its provision meets UK expectations.

The enhancement of student learning opportunities at the provider meets UK expectations.

Important note

In response to the findings highlighted in this review report, the provider has published an action plan.

Since the report on Alton College was published, the review team can now confirm that the College, working in partnership with the student body, has satisfactorily addressed the review team's initial recommendations relating to the negative judgement on the quality of the information produced by the provider, through the action planning process. In July 2015 the judgement was amended from 'does not meet UK expectations' to 'meets UK expectations'.

We visit universities and colleges once every six years to conduct a Higher Education Review of the standards and quality of the education they provide.

We train staff and students from other providers to carry out the review of the university or college and to make judgements on its management of quality and standards, its commitment to the process of improving its systems, and the reliability of the information produced about its provision.

We are independent of government, universities and colleges and our findings and judgements are published here.
