safeguarding standards and improving the quality of UK higher education

Research and analysis

We help improve the quality of higher education provision by supporting, commissioning and undertaking a variety of research and analysis.

Find out more about our projects, publications and partnerships, and browse through features of good practice in higher education.

We are involved in a variety of projects within the higher education sector and publish research on areas of interest.

Our Spotlight page brings together a variety of resources on a particular topic of interest. It includes contributions from a number of external resources, as well as our own research, case studies and event materials.

We analyse QAA review reports and identify key themes and trends.

We also publish good practice case studies submitted to us by providers who have received commendations in their review. These case studies are intended to help share good practice across the sector.

Grants and contracts

We commission research on new and innovative themes each year by offering grants to QAA subscribers. We also contract external bodies to undertake specific research on our behalf. Current calls for expressions of interest can be found at current grants.

We work with partners to ensure our research and project work is well informed and current, and publish guidance on particular subjects.

QAA Knowledgebase

The QAA Knowledgebase offers a chance to learn from the work of others, highlighting good practice and recommendations from QAA review. In this section, you'll find good practice case studies by providers who have received commendations in their review.
