Information bulletin: Integrated quality and enhancement review (IQER) - student engagement 2010

What is this information bulletin about?

This information bulletin provides information about student engagement in quality assurance within further education colleges in England. Aimed at college staff and students, the full bulletin can be downloaded as a PDF by clicking on the link on the right. A summary of the key findings is below.

Summary of findings

We estimate that more than 2,500 students have met with IQER review teams since 2006-07. Many students think that one of the main benefits of contributing to IQER is that the process gives them a voice. Others mention actions taken by the college in response to things raised in the student written submission and to students' involvement more generally in IQER.

Other benefits of students' involvement in IQER include:

  • it confirms that students' views are valued
  • students have an opportunity to have their say
  • it gives students an opportunity to develop a sense of ownership of the programmes they are studying.
