safeguarding standards and improving the quality of UK higher education

Professional, statutory and regulatory bodies (PSRBs)

QAA works with professional, statutory and regulatory bodies (PSRBs) to make regulation more efficient. PSRBs set standards for, and regulate standards of entry into, particular professions. They are a diverse group that approves, recognises or accredits higher education programmes.

How we work together

PSRB Forum

The PSRB Forum is a joint venture between QAA and the UK Inter-Professional Group (UKIPG) that meets roughly twice a year to talk about developments in higher education. Activities include:

  • sharing good practice, experiences and ideas of mutual interest
  • consulting and managing Subject Benchmark Statements across a range of disciplines.

Event resources from the 2017 PSRB Forum are available here.

PSRB Steering Group

The PSRB Steering Group aligns the QAA review process with the objectives of PSRBs, to reduce duplicating efforts, which further benefits higher education providers. It meets three times a year and reports to QAA directors.
