QAA has updated the handbook for UK transnational education (TNE) review.
The handbook, first published in January 2017, was developed in consultation with UK higher education providers and funding bodies.
Reviewers used the new handbook for this year’s review of UK TNE in Ireland, and the revisions are based on learning from that experience.
The key changes relate to minor procedural aspects, in particular:
- selecting providers for review or case study after the initial desk-based analysis, rather than at the start of the review
- improving the information set requested, to include an enhanced overview statement that should guide reviewers in their desk-based analysis.
The revised handbook will apply to the next TNE review in Hong Kong, which starts in January 2018.
