Quality assurance data dashboards: an update

Date 07/11/2017

This summer, as part of the M5 Group, QAA facilitated an Analytics Labs project to develop a series of data dashboards focused on quality assurance. The purpose of these dashboards is to support strategic, evidence-based decision making.

Analytics Labs (opens in new window), formerly known as Business Intelligence labs, are a national analytics service delivered by Jisc and HESA, offering individuals from higher education institutions the opportunity to collaborate in cutting edge data manipulation and analysis.

The 'QA labs' dashboards are structured around two user stories. The first, Value Added, explores how an institution can make use of student performance data to identify areas requiring additional support. The second, Governing Body Assurance, presents simplified data of relevance to governing bodies, drawing attention to areas of significance.

Following their showcase at a QAA event in October, the dashboards will now be considered by Jisc and HESA for inclusion in HESA's web-based service Heidi Plus. Paul Hazell, QAA's Evaluation and Analytics Manager, has been invited to support the work of Analytics Labs in a strategic adviser role.
