safeguarding standards and improving the quality of UK higher education

QAA welcomes publication of the Department for Education's Apprenticeship Accountability Statement

Date 03/04/2017

QAA welcomes the publication of the Department for Education's Apprenticeship Accountability Statement (opens in new window). The Statement sets out the roles and functions of organisations responsible for ensuring the delivery of the apprenticeship reform programme.

QAA has worked closely with HEFCE, the Department for Education and sector partners to develop the framework to clarify the way in which we will work together to support the Government's objectives in securing the quality and value of apprenticeships. We are also working actively with representatives of Government and partner agencies in Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland to ensure the effective and efficient quality assurance of higher level apprenticeships in all areas of the UK.

We also welcome the launch of the Institute for Apprenticeships. QAA has worked productively with the shadow Institute, and we look forward to growing this relationship as the new system rolls out.
