safeguarding standards and improving the quality of UK higher education

QAA releases new video about the UK Quality Code

Date 01/11/2017

The UK Standing Committee for Quality Assessment (UKSCQA) has launched a consultation on revisions to the UK Quality Code for Higher Education, the sector-wide reference point for quality and academic standards in the UK.

UKSCQA was set up in 2016 to provide sector-led oversight of the higher education quality assessment arrangements that continue to be shared across the UK. It supports a co-regulatory approach by bringing together academic expertise and students with regulatory and other bodies.

In the second in our series of short films, university and college leaders discuss how the Quality Code helps providers set and maintain academic standards, and how its evolution through partnership and consultation embodies the framework of co-regulation that UK higher education is renowned for.

About the Quality Code consultation

The consultation, hosted by QAA on behalf of UKSCQA:

  • presents an approach that allows the Quality Code to be agile and responsive
  • responds to the context of ongoing regulatory change and a diversifying UK higher education landscape
  • places students at its heart
  • reflects sector views about how the Quality Code can best serve a rapidly changing sector.

The consultation runs until 13 December. You can read the consultation document, sign up for consultation events across the UK, and submit your response now.
