Review of QAA to reconfirm ENQA membership
QAA had its first review to reconfirm its membership of the European Association for Quality Assurance in Higher Education (ENQA) in April, and it has been confirmed that we retain ‘Full membership’ for the next five years.
ENQA is the umbrella organisation for quality assurance agencies in the European Higher Education Area. Full membership of ENQA represents recognition that an agency complies with the European Standards and Guidelines for quality assurance in higher education. Compliance with these standards is checked every five years through an independent review.
The review panel, made up of stakeholder representatives and an international member, visited our offices from 21-23 April 2008. It found QAA to be fully compliant in 14 of the 16 standards and substantially compliant in the other two. The review was overseen by a steering group including representatives from the UK funding councils, Universities UK, Universities Scotland, Higher Education Wales and the National Union of Students.
The final review report was drafted by the review panel and considered by the ENQA Board in November 2008 - PDF
A self-evaluation document was also produced in preparation for the review - HTML | PDF
