Professional, statutory and regulatory bodies (PSRB) forum – Work-based
learning
Date: Wednesday 23 June 2010
Location: The Association of Commonwealth Universities, London
QAA hosted an afternoon forum for professional, statutory and regulatory bodies (PSRBs), focusing on the benefits of work-based learning on Wednesday 23 June. The event, a joint venture between QAA and the UK Inter-Professional Group (UKIPG), provided an opportunity for representatives from PSRBs to share ideas and good practice.
Work-based learning is any part of a higher education-level programme which is delivered to students in a working environment and contributes to their award or requirements for professional registration. It is widely recognised and features in many higher education programmes, and often forms a common basis for collaboration between PSRBs and higher education institutions.
Wendy Stubbs, Assistant Director at QAA, delivered a presentation on the approaches that higher education institutions take to assure quality in programmes with work-based learning, and QAA's role in monitoring this.
The event also featured an update from Janet Hanson, Policy Adviser at Universities UK, on the recently-formed HE Better Regulation Group.
Wendy Stubbs' presentation is now available to view.
