QAA hosts consultation on the UK Quality Code

Date 08/12/2017

QAA is hosting a consultation undertaken by the UK Standing Committee for Quality Assessment (UKSCQA) on the redevelopment of the UK Quality Code.

The consultation proposes an holistic approach to the Code’s reshaping and restructure, including a new approach to the Expectations. It is designed to involve the sector across all stages, initially in the development of these Expectations then in the longer-term development of the Code.

The consultation:

  • presents an approach that allows the Code to be agile and responsive
  • responds to the context of ongoing regulatory change and a diversifying UK higher education landscape
  • places students at its heart
  • reflects sector views about how the Code can best serve a rapidly changing sector.

QAA Chief Executive Douglas Blackstock says: 'The UK Quality Code is renowned internationally as a leading and comprehensive framework for quality and standards. In this latest evolution, focused clearly on outcomes for students, we are setting the agenda that will keep UK higher education ahead of our international competition.'

Five workshops will be held across the UK in November and December, offering an opportunity to discuss key issues that will inform your consultation response.

The consultation ends on Wednesday 13 December and we hope it will attract a wide range of views from across the sector.
