QAA Accessibility

As an independent charity, QAA is committed to providing information to the public that is accessible to users with a range of disabilities, including those with visual impairments.

The QAA website aims to be compliant with the Web Content Accessibility Guideline (WCAG) 2.0, as set out by the World Wide Web Consortium (W3C​)

Web accessibility is an ongoing process and we acknowledge that some sections of the QAA website (including older PDF documents) may be inaccessible or may not adhere to WCAG 2.0 standards.

If you encounter any difficulty in accessing the website or any documents, do contact us and we will do our best to provide an accessible alternative.

Accessing QAA web content

QAA's web content aims to be accessible to assistive technologies and flexible for all users. All information on the QAA website can be accessed with specific features for accessibility that include:

  • adjustable text size
  • high contrast colour version
  • text only version.

Links to these features are available throughout the website, from the top navigation bar.


In the majority of cases, hyperlinks to QAA webpages are described within page content and contextually explain their target destination. We have avoided duplication of link text, so a single page with two links to the same location in page content will always point to the same address.


Links to PDFs are present within page content and within the Publications section of the website under the Information and Guidance section. We continually make efforts to limit direct links to PDF documents within page content. Direct links to PDFs within page content will also have descriptive hyperlinks that include file size, and target destination (new tabs or new windows)

You can download Adobe Reader through the link available in the footer of the website, on all pages to access PDF documents. Adobe Reader also has screen-reading functionality.


Images used for decorative or layout purposes have been assigned a null ALT attribute, and all other images contain alternate text. ​
