1 Following a review, revised statements for architecture, architectural technology and landscape architecture will be published under separate covers. The subject benchmark statement for architecture is undergoing a major review. Following consultation on a draft revised statement that closed on 30 July 2007, discussions have taken place between the review group (chaired by Professor Kate Heron from the University of Westminter and SCHOSA Council) and the Architects Registration Board (ARB) and the Royal Institute of British Architects (RIBA). A decision in principle has been reached to work towards a unified document that will bring together the subject benchmark statement and the jointly held RIBA/ARB validation criteria. Work has now begun on developing the new statement and, once complete, a draft will be available for schools of architecture to comment upon as part of a sector-wide consultation. Progress will be reported here. Higher education administrators may contact benchmarking@qaa.ac.uk for further information or the identified bodies directly.

2 Art and design and History of art, architecture and design are two separate statements published together.

3 Following a review, the revised statement for building and surveying has been published under the cover of construction, planning and surveying.

4 Following a review, revised statements for social policy and administration, and social work have been published under separate covers.
