As Director of the Development and Enhancement Group, Jayne Mitchell is
responsible for QAA’s work with the higher education sector and its
partners to maintain and support the implementation of the Academic Infrastructure.
She manages a Group with a wide range of associated work and projects that
are undertaken mostly in England, Wales and Northern Ireland and also some
international activities, particularly in Europe in relation to the continuing
development and implementation of the Bologna Process.
Prior to her appointment as Director, Jayne was an Assistant Director in the Development and Enhancement Group, initially joining QAA in 2003 as a secondee from Staffordshire University, where she was Associate Dean with responsibility for Quality and Learning Development in the Faculty of Health and Sciences.
Jayne completed her PhD in ‘exercise epidemiology’ at the University of Exeter and holds a Masters in Public Health from the University of Birmingham. She has previously held a number of posts in higher education institutions that reflect her commitment to quality assurance and academic and research interests in physical activity and health.
Development and Enhancement Group
The Group co-ordinates QAA’s responsibilities for the maintenance and
support of the Academic Infrastructure. The Group also works to analyse and
disseminate the wider outcomes of audit and review through publications and
events and takes on a wide range of enhancement related project work. The
Group of 18 includes Assistant Directors, Development officers, Project officers
and Administrators, with 3 staff seconded on a part time basis from English
HEIs.
