Types of review 

A key part of QAA’s role is to review and report on how universities and colleges of higher education maintain academic standards and quality. We carry out reviews using a variety of methods depending on the country and type of institution. All current methods are listed below by country.

• Institutional Review is the review method for higher education institutions in England and Northern Ireland. Institutional Review replaced the previous Institutional Audit method in September 2011. 
• Audit of Collaborative Provision looks at how institutions with degree awarding powers maintain the standards of their awards delivered at other colleges or organisations.
• Integrated Quality and Enhancement Review (IQER) is the review method for higher education delivered in further education colleges.
• AVA relicensing and review is the process QAA uses to confirm that Access Validating Agencies are meeting the licensing agreement, licensing criteria and other parts of the QAA Recognition Scheme for Access to Higher Education.
• General Osteopathic Council Review
• Review for Educational Oversight (REO) is a review method for higher education in independent colleges, including both colleges operating for profit and those with charitable status.

• Institutional Review / Adolygiad Sefydliadol is the review process for higher education institutions in Wales.
• Review of HE in FE (Wales) / Adolygiad o'r AU mewn AB (Cymru) is the method for higher education delivered in further education colleges.
